Gary E. Wood

President & CEO

 

Gary Wood was appointed the Cooperative's chief executive officer in 2008. In the previous eight years, Mr. Wood served as Vice President of Engineering and Operations and then as Senior Vice President at CVEC.

 

Mr. Wood is a licensed professional engineer, earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia and his Master's of Business Administration from Auburn University. Mr. Wood has served on both the Nelson County School Board and Board of Supervisors.

 

Mr. Wood represents the interests of Central Virginia Electric Cooperative by serving on the boards of directors of the following organizations: The Blue Ridge Power Agency, Southeastern Federal Power Customers, Inc., and the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives. He also served on the board of directors of CVEC's wholly owned subsidiary, Central Virginia Services, Inc.

 

Mr. Wood and his wife, Debbie Harvey, live in Nelson County. They have a son and a daughter.

Engineering Services

 

Engineering Services handles short and long-range construction planning to ensure that the electric system performs reliably and meets the demands of growth.

Member Services

 

Member services gathers and provides information to CVEC members, employees and the general public through print, electronic and broadcast media as well as directly through our Member Service Representatives who field thousands of calls each month.

Reliability and System Engineering

 

Reliability and System Engineering focuses on reliability concerns and field engineering to ensure reliable and consistent power delivery to CVEC members.

Operations

 

The primary function of the Operations Department is to "keep the lights on." Operations is responsible for outage restoration, day-to-day management of the system, building/repairing lines and carrying out work orders.
